The parish of Santa Maria Assunta in Cossato is experiencing a particularly active period with important cultural and religious events centered around August 15th. The highlight is the upcoming solemn coronation of the statue of the Assumption Madonna. On July 30th, a delegation from Cossato will travel to the Vatican, where Pope Leo XIV will bless the new crown during a general audience. This crown was made from donations by the faithful and crafted by artisans from L’Aquila. The crown will be presented to the public on August 1st and finally placed on the statue in a solemn ceremony on August 14th. The celebrations will conclude on August 15th with a Mass and a reception.
The statue of the Assumption Madonna was carved by hand with great dedication in our workshop over ten years ago at the express request of the parish, and lovingly hand-painted with great attention to detail. It is the result of close collaboration with the community and an expression of the deep devotion of the faithful — a unique work of sacred art that now finds its solemn completion through the coronation.
