Recently, a hand carved wooden statue of Saint Luigi Scrosoppi was solemnly installed and blessed at the Parish of San Valentino ai Parioli in Rome. The sculpture was entirely created in our workshop by Ferdinand Stuflesser 1875, following the traditions of Italian sacred wood carving that have defined our atelier for over 150 years.
Saint Luigi Scrosoppi (1804–1884), priest and founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence, dedicated his life to the education of youth and to social charity. Today, he is especially venerated as the patron saint of footballers, a symbol of discipline, humility, teamwork, and moral integrity — values deeply rooted in both faith and sport.
The statue was fully handcrafted from solid wood, shaped and refined entirely by hand. From the expressive face to the flowing garments and symbolic attributes, every detail reflects the principles of traditional religious sculpture and Catholic church art. No industrial processes were used — only time, craftsmanship, and devotion.
This work stands as a testimony to handcrafted church statues, created for lasting spiritual presence. It continues the legacy of sacred art from Italy, combining theological meaning, artistic excellence, and timeless beauty.
