SAINT LUIGI SCROSOPPI, patron Saint of all footballers

Due to our 135 year existence, we supported a research programme, which aimed to provide all footballers and their fans with a Saint suitable to become the patron saint of the most popular sport in the world.
The idea, steadfastness and perseverance of the project's initiator Manfred Pesek, the support of the eminent ethicist from the University of Jena, Prof. Dr. mult. Nikolaus Knöpffler, the knowledge of the relevant departments at the Vatican and the contribution of our workshop Ferdinand Stuflesser 1875 (furnishers to the Holy See for over a century) have all combined to enable the nomination of St. Aloysius Dominic Scrosoppi (known as Saint Luigi Scrosoppi), born in Udine, as the patron saint of all footballers. The saint's intellectual, emotive and financial efforts were all key factors in the decision.  Ferdinand Stuflesser 1875 contributed to the success of the campaign in three different ways. Firstly through the important links with the Vatican, which have been fostered for many decades. This enabled us to obtain valuable information on which the final selection of the saint was based. Secondly, Ferdinand Stuflesser 1875 has a very comprehensive archive and a wealth of religious knowledge, which made our research for the design of the carved representation of the saint significantly easier. Much time and effort was spent on the study - conducted with the help of an Italian monastery - of his original habit. The third strand of our contribution consisted of our artistic input, which has been our speciality for more than 135 years. The end result was the carving of "Saint Luigi Scrosoppi - THE ORIGINAL", which is only available from our workshop here in the South Tyrol.

 The "Saint Luigi Scrosoppi - THE ORIGINAL", a 70 cm high woodcarving carved completely by hand in cembra pine wood, was unveiled and ceremonially blessed by the Bishop of the diocese Dr. Alois Schwarz on August 22nd 2010 in his service of dedication in Pörtschach am Wörthersee (Carinthia). We would like to emphasise once again that this statue was hard-carved in the same way as all our other works, with no mechanical tools used and is therefore a unique piece, a one-off. As Ferdinand Stuflesser 1875 is the only workshop in the world legally licenced to produce the "Saint Luigi Scrosoppi - THE ORIGINAL" both in wood and other materials, our management will highlight any cases of plagiarism. After many long months of hard work, we are happy to announce that we are processing numerous requests for the "Saint Luigi Scrosoppi - THE ORIGINAL" and are already working on making some individual pieces. As these pieces are always individually made, we offer the "Saint Luigi Scrosoppi - THE ORIGINAL" in any size and in any material as desired by the customer. Examples of the materials range from wood to bronze and marble for statues which will be displayed outside.

 We are happy to note the affection in which Saint Luigi Scrosoppi is held and many footballers and fans are speaking out in favour of their stadium having their patron saint "Saint Luigi Scrosoppi - THE ORIGINAL" outside the main entrance. He is meant to support the team in difficult times and provide them with the necessary consistency, concentration and stamina in good times!
